Created in 1971 by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, and launched on Valentine's Day in 1972, Grease was been played more than 3,000 times on Broadway in its first run and was nominated for 7 Tony Awards.
Since then, Grease has been a constant hit musical. It ran again on Broadway from 1994 to 1998 and has toured across the United States, in the United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa and several European countries.
The story takes place in 1959 at Rydell High School, in the suburbs of Chicago, against a backdrop of rock music. Sandy, a native Australian, is a new student at the school. By chance, she meets Danny Zuko, the boy that she fell in love with over the summer. Danny is the gang leader of the Burger Palace Boys and while Sandy is happy to see him, he is more concerned with his popularity and cool image as leader of the gang than with his feelings about Sandy. Helped by the Pink Ladies, Sandy will eventually succeed in this game of love and chance.
Grease has all the elements of a great musical including hit songs that never lose their freshness. The musical will be performed in French with some songs retained in English.
Mogador Theatre now provides surtitles!
This year, we are pleased to announce that our show will be surtitled in English to accommodate our audiences. As some songs will be sung in English, while others and the narrative will be in French, we will provide our audiences with a translation in real time of our entire show for your viewing and understanding pleasure.
